The Rediscovery
DEPTH Dialogue - what was called the Socratic Dialectic in ancient times
-
was rediscovered and reformulated
only after more than three decades of research, exploration, intuitive
inspirations, creative breakthroughs and practical insights. This was
hard work and proceeded very slowly to completion, having many false
starts and going down many dead-end streets along the way. It is a kind
of wonder that it came to completion at all, because it seemed an
impossible dream most of the way, in fact right up to the moment when
it all came together (in the kind of large-scale creative breakthrough
that DEPTH Dialogue induces.)
In spite of all that went into the search for it, the practice is not a
synthesis or integration of many methods but is whole and entire in
itself as a unique activity stemming from Socrates' Dialectic. However,
there were many sources of insight and inspiration, which, although
they do not enter into the practice, proved
valuable or
useful along the way to its rediscovery. This section presents the most
important of these.
